Jim Sinek, President
As president of Boone Hospital Center, Jim Sinek is responsible for all hospital operations, physician recruitment, marketing and planning. Before joining Boone Hospital in 2013, Mr. Sinek led Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska. With more than two decades of health care leadership experience, he has served in executive roles at Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood, Arizona, and at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, the Finley Hospital and Stewart Memorial Community Hospital in Iowa. Mr. Sinek holds a Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, a Master of Arts degree in health care administration from the University of Iowa, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Buena Vista University in Iowa. He has served in leadership roles for the Missouri and Nebraska Hospital Associations and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a member of the American Bar Association. He is also active in a number of local community organizations.
Barry Chambers, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Chambers is a certified public accountant with over 25 years’ experience in hospital finance. He has held positions as controller, vice president-finance, and chief financial officer in hospitals ranging from 49 to 850 beds, and has worked for both for-profit and non-profit facilities and health systems. Prior to joining Boone Hospital in April 2015, Mr. Chambers was vice president of finance for six years for Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, a hospital with over 800 beds in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has also worked at hospitals in Missouri, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Louisiana. Mr. Chambers has a Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degree from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
Michelle Zvanut, Vice President of Human Resources
Ms. Zvanut began her career at Boone Hospital Center in 1998 as a medical social worker. In 2000 she moved into a broader role as customer relations coordinator, and served from 2004 through 2008 as director of human resources. In 2008, Ms. Zvanut was promoted to her current position. Ms. Zvanut earned her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1988. Throughout her career, she has worked in the mid-Missouri health care industry as a social worker in inpatient and outpatient adult and child psychiatric services, home health and hospice care, and medical inpatient care. Ms. Zvanut currently serves on the board of directors for the Voluntary Action Center.
Dr. Robin Blount, Vice President and Chief Medical Officer
Robin Blount, MD, has been Boone Hospital Center’s chief medical officer since July 2015. Dr. Blount holds a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and a medical degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia. Dr. Blount also completed her internal medicine residency and one year of an infectious disease fellowship at the University of Missouri. Dr. Blount worked in private practice in internal medicine in Columbia for 28 years and has been an active member of the Hospital’s medical staff for over 30 years. She has served on many committees throughout her career and served as chief of medicine and secretary treasurer of the Boone Hospital’s medical staff before assuming her current position as chief medical officer.
Monica Smith, Vice President of Patient Care Services & Ancillary Operations and Chief Nursing Officer
Ms. Smith is a registered professional nurse and is responsible for the development and integration of hospital-wide patient care programs, standards, policies and procedures. She graduated in 1991 from the Sinclair School of Nursing at University of Missouri in Columbia with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Her practice of nursing was focused in adult critical care and management. In 1998, she received a Master of Science in nursing from the Sinclair School of Nursing. She practiced as an advanced practice nurse in trauma services, coordinating patients throughout the continuum of care and providing clinical services. She re-entered the field of nursing leadership and was recruited to Boone Hospital Center in 2006 as the director of patient care services. During her tenure, she has held multiple nursing leadership positions and was the first service line director for cardiac services until she was promoted to vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer in 2015. Ms. Smith is a member of the Missouri Organization for Nurse Leaders, Sigma Theta Tau-Alpha Iota Chapter, American Nurses Association, American Organization of Nurse Executives, and is board-certified as a Nurse Executive. She currently serves as a board member for the Boone Hospital Foundation and BJC Home Care.
