In the early 2000s, when Kim Farris transitioned from a human resources generalist to a recruiter role at Columbia Regional Hospital, she was initially reluctant. She quickly came to enjoy being a recruiter, but she had no idea that someone else would try to recruit her, until Boone Hospital Center called.
“When I was little, and all the little girls were playing School and House, I was playing Office. I was the secretary,” says Boone Hospital Center executive assistant Stacey Roberts.
Growing up, Boone Hospital Center surgical technologist Jenna Langley knew what she wanted to do for a career. Her father had been a surgical tech while enlisted in the Army, and when Jenna looked into the occupation, she says, "I thought it was really cool."
Our September 2015 Employee of the Month, Melinda Boice, has been with Boone Hospital Center as a physical therapist for over 20 years.
June employee of the month Nicole Lauer says she decided to go into nursing after giving birth to her son, Avery, at Boone Hospital 12 years ago.
“The staff was so great and passionate. It made me want to become a nurse myself,” says Nicole.
Bruce Smith says, “A hospital building operates differently. There are a lot of things you have to take care of.”
Ten years ago, Bruce joined Boone Hospital Center as a mechanic in the plant operations department. His primary role is to provide regular, preventive maintenance to the sterile processing equipment in the hospital’s central services area and operating room, making sure that a multitude of machines are kept in good working condition, ordering parts, making repairs and quickly responding to any issues.
