The Boone Hospital Center Internship Program will provide opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in their field of study and an insight into careers in health care. This program will also allow Boone the opportunity to evaluate prospective employees.
Recruitment of college students will be limited to those in at least their junior year of undergraduate coursework or any level of a Master’s degree program. These requirements will allow the students ample time to complete basic coursework within their major area of study, so they will enter the internship with an understanding of basic principles.
The majority of internship positions at Boone Hospital Center are offered to students looking to earn college credit and a grade for their work. Since these types of internships are considered class work and not a job, the work will not be paid. In addition to the non-paid internships available, Boone typically has one paid internship position
available during the summer months. All interns are provided the additional “perks” Boone Hospital Center employee receive. These include discounts in the cafeteria, free break drinks, and participation in employee activities and events.
During the summer months, interns will be asked to commit to a minimum of 20-25 hours/week and up to 40 hour/week. During the school year, 10-15 hours/week minimum commitment is expected. Each host department will provide meaningful, professional-level work for the intern to complete. Projects will also be related to the intern’s field of study.
