Columbia –For the second year in a row, the American Heart Association has recognized Boone Hospital Center as a Fit-Friendly Company.

The designation honors Boone Hospital’s dedication to promoting healthy lifestyles among its staff members. All Boone Hospital staff members receive free membership to the hospital’s WELLAWARE gym. In addition, WELLAWARE hosts a number of events during the year to get staff excited about being healthy. The events include hospital-wide health challenges, health initiatives and know your numbers health screenings.

Boone Hospital also has a Health Literacy Committee that works to promote healthy lifestyles and recognizes employees for making good health choices.

“One of our goals at Boone Hospital is to be a beacon of health in our community and we believe that starts with our own staff,” said Jeff Zimmerman, health promotions supervisor, Boone Hospital Center’s WELLAWARE program. “We try to make being healthy at work an easy choice and we welcome other mid-Missouri employers to join us in this effort.”
