The Center for Advanced Medicine's new mechanical room is a critical component to the new addition, with two new 400 hp boilers that operate on natural gas or diesel fuel. This allows better control of the steam quality needed for the central services sterilization processes. With the aid of eight new air handlers, the new boilers provide heating while cooling is provided from the hospital's central chiller plant for higher efficiency.
In addition, a new duplex medical vacuum system was installed tied into the hospital's medical vacuum systems. Two steam on-demand water heaters were added, to supply all the hot water for the new addition. And a commercial water softener was installed, to supply soft water to the hot water heaters.
