Patient Safety

Patient safety is our number one priority at Boone Hospital. Please adhere to our guidelines to ensure we maintain a safe place to care for patients.

The safety rails on your bed are provided for your protection. Please do not attempt to lower or raise your bedrails without assistance.

Fire Protection

Fire drills are performed periodically as a part of the hospital's safety program. Please do not be concerned if a drill takes place while you are here. Patients do not participate in these drills.

Personal Attire

You will probably wish to bring a few personal clothing items from home to make your stay here more comfortable. We recommend that you don't bring large quantities of clothing with you. For your safety, we encourage you to bring slippers to wear when you are out of bed. Boone Hospital Center cannot be responsible for personal items you bring with you.

Personal Electrical Equipment

Personal electrical equipment such as radios, curling irons and hair dryers, can be used in the hospital but may need to be checked by the nursing staff. Boone Hospital is not responsible for any such items you choose to bring with you during your stay. Electrical items such as humidifiers, dehumidifiers, electric blankets, heating pads and portable heaters are not allowed to be brought into the hospital.

Smoking Policy

Boone hospital Center continues to strive to better the quality of life for our patients, visitors and staff. To be consistent with that aim, the hospital has implemented a no smoking policy to provide a safe and toxin free environment. Smoking is not permitted in the hospital or in buildings owned by the hospital.

We recommend that you leave or send valuables home since the hospital cannot accept responsibility for personal property kept in your room. If this is not possible, ask your nurse to make arrangements to keep them in the hospital safe. Valuables deposited in the safe should remain there until you are discharged or able to accept responsibility for those items. Valuables can only be returned to the owner and may not be returned to a spouse or relative without a Power of Attorney. A receipt will be attached to your chart.

If you have dentures or eyeglasses, please keep them in a proper container so that they will not be damaged or lost. A special container for dentures can be provided by your nurse.
