Jim Sinek named president of Boone Hospital Center

Jim Sinek has been appointed president of Boone Hospital Center, effective August 12.

Sinek comes to Boone Hospital and BJC from Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Neb., where as president and CEO he oversaw the opening of a new bed tower, led physician alignment initiatives, directed a transition to electronic medical records and maintained a strong focus on clinical quality and patient satisfaction. He is keenly attuned to the financial pressures facing hospitals today and has experience in establishing relationships with regional health care facilities and enhancing clinical service line growth.

“We are excited about the breadth of skills and experience Jim will bring to our organization in serving the mid-Missouri region,” says Sandra Van Trease, BJC group president. “He has a proven track record of taking hospitals to even higher levels of performance and we can expect that same focus for Boone and BJC.”

“Clearly, there is a lot of common ground as Jim joins the Boone Hospital family,” adds Randy Morrow, who served as interim president during the national search and will resume his role as Boone Hospital vice president and chief operating officer. “His strong, personal leadership style will serve this community very well and ensure Boone Hospital remains an exceptional facility for the patients of mid-Missouri.”

“I am very familiar with Boone Hospital Center’s stellar reputation for patient care and clinical quality, and am honored to have the opportunity to lead a hospital that has been part of the Columbia community for more than 90 years,” says Sinek. “I look forward to working with Boone’s staff, leadership and physicians and to becoming affiliated with a health care organization with the national stature of BJC.”

With more than two decades of previous health care leadership experience, Sinek has served in executive roles at Verde Valley Medical Center in Arizona and at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, The Finley Hospital and Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, all in Iowa. He holds a Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University School of Law in Omaha, a master of arts degree in health care administration from the University of Iowa and an undergraduate degree in business administration from Buena Vista University in Iowa.

Sinek has served in leadership roles for the Nebraska Hospital Association, is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, a member of the American Bar Association and is active in a number of local community organizations.
